Eugenia “Jean” Delaney of The Villages, Florida, peacefully passed away on Oct. 1 at the age of 88. She will forever be remembered as a beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, sister, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend. Jean was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and spent many years there until relocating her family to Carmel in 1969. She and her husband Bud retired to The Villages, Florida in 1997.
Jean taught CCD for many years at St. James the Apostle Church in Carmel and was a member of the Columbiettes. She loved music, dancing, bowling and mahjong.
She is preceded by her loving husband of 58 years, Alexander “Bud” Delaney, and brothers Joseph and Robert Koehler. She is survived by her sister Patricia (Rudolph) Lohse, her son Thomas Delaney and daughters Barbara (Jim) Kessler and Patricia (David) Nevarez. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren Tomasina and Danny Delaney.
The family would like to thank Cornerstone and the incredible staff at the Lane Purcell Hospice House for their amazing care and genuine kindness, love and support over the past two months.
Services were held at Saint Timothy Catholic Church, Lady Lake, on Thursday, Oct. 4 at 10 a.m. Interment followed at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
