Ferdinand DeLuca ‘Fred’, of Somers, NY, died on February 19, 2016, at home. He was 93 years old.
Fred was born on June 8, 1922, in Manhattan, NY, son of the late Ferdinand and Josephine (Lota) DeLuca.
On June 28, 1952, he married Lucille Suglia in Bronx, NY. She predeceased him on December 1, 1992.
Fred was an investigator with the US office of Personnel Management for over 30 years before retiring. He honorably served in the US Army Air corps during W.W. II. Fred was an active member in the Somers VFW, always attending parades. He was also a member of the Massapequa Park Lions Club. He loved to travel, especially to Italy, play the piano and card games.
Fred is survived by his two children; Susan Meola and her husband Tony of Brewster, NY, and Richard De- Luca and his wife Donna of Massapequa, NY, his sister Annette Scott and his two granddaughters; Jeannette and Allison DeLuca. He was predeceased by his two siblings.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, February 22, 2016, at St. Joseph’s Church, Somers, NY. Interment followed at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY. Friends called Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster on February 21, 2016, www.Beecherfuneralhome.com.
