It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Frances Marie Carbonaro, 86, of Mahopac, NY on October 29, 2019 at home. Frances was born in the Bronx, NY on May 13, 1933 to parents Anthony and Anna Susi. She was a graduate of Evander Childs High School in the Bronx. When she was 21 years old, Frances married the love of her life, Anthony Carbonaro, on September 11, 1954, at the old Saint Patrick’s Church in New York City.
Frances moved to Mahopac 47 years ago with her husband to raise their family. Nothing brought her more pleasure than spending time with them. She loved to cook and every Sunday, in true Italian tradition, prepared a big dinner to enjoy with her family. She was also noted for baking Italian Christmas cookies that she distributed to friends and neighbors each year.
She worked as a Teacher’s Assistant at B.O.C.E.S. in Yorktown Heights until she retired. Frances was an active parishioner of St. John the Evangelist’s Church in Mahopac, NY. She also participated in several volunteer organizations, most recently at the Koehler Senior Center.
Frances is survived by three loving children, Dorothea Gardner (Douglas), Carol Carbonaro-Torrisi (John) and Darryl Carbonaro (Jon), her two cherished grandchildren Amanda Crumb and Michael Gardner, and one great-granddaughter, Sophia Marie Crumb. She is survived by brother, Michael Susi. She is predeceased by her dearly loved husband, Anthony Carbonaro, who passed away in 2017, and her cherished son, James Carbonaro, who passed away in 2002. Frances will be remembered with love and great affection by all those who knew her and she will be missed beyond measure.
