George Treistman




George Treistman, 83, of Jefferson Village, in Yorktown Heights, passed away after a long illness at Hudson Valley Hospital on December 24, 2009. He was born in Los Angeles, California on April 29, 1926 to Anna Wind and Leo Treistman. He and his older brother Eugene spent their happy childhood in the Mohegan Colony, NY. George graduated from Stuyvesant College in New York City, and Syracuse University. He went into the Army in 1944.

He worked as a history teacher for a short period of time, then went into business with his father at Bell Office Equipment Co., in Peekskill, in 1948. He took over the business in the early 1960s and expanded the business with two more satellite businesses, Bell Dutchess in Wappingers Falls, and Bell Office Furniture in Katonah. When he retired he worked for the Mohansic Golf Course. He was a champion bowler in his younger years, and a passionate

golfer in his later years. He was a proud member of the Elks Club.

George is survived by his adoring wife of 25 years, Virginia; three children, Paul and Leigh Ann Treistman, and Gordon Hayes. He is also survived by twin grandchildren, Steven and Ross Treistman, and two nephews, Donald and Roger Treistman.

His friends, family, business associates, and customers knew him for his selfless generosity and unwavering honesty and integrity. He was loved by all.
