It is with great sadness we announce the passing of John C. Wund, 59, on February 8, 2021.
John was born on April 22, 1961, in New York City to George J. and Margaret (Ahern) Wund. John served proudly and traveled the world during his service in the U.S. Navy. He worked for many years as an Operating Engineer before retiring to Florida.
An avid outdoorsman, John was an expert fisherman. He knew where to find the fish in every lake and reservoir in Putnam County and beyond. He also played a good game of golf. John was an active member of the Mahopac VFW Post 5491 and the American Legion Mahopac Post 1080.
John is survived by his beloved sons, George and James Wund. He is also survived by his dearly loved siblings, Patricia Hoffman (William), June Wund, and Kathryn Reidy (Rhett) and numerous nieces and nephews. His brother, William Wund, predeceases him.
John will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was the life of many a party and family gathering.
A Memorial Mass to celebrate and honor John’s life will take place at 11:30 A.M. Saturday, April 10, 2021, at St. James the Apostle Church in Carmel, NY. Interment will follow at Raymond Hill Cemetery in Carmel, NY.
Visitation before Mass will be from 9 AM to 11 AM at Cargain Funeral Home, 10 Fowler Avenue, Carmel, NY. The family will be there to welcome friends and relatives.
