It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Joseph P. Torregrossa, age 73, on January 11, 2021.
Joseph was born on February 22, 1947 in the Bronx, NY to Joseph and Angelina (Polignone) Torregrossa. He married the love of his life, Maria Owen on June 3, 1973, and were blessed with two wonderful children.
Joe was a butcher in Putnam, Dutchess and Westchester Counties throughout his life until his retirement in 2015. After his retirement he went on to work for his hardest boss, his wife Maria. Joe held the esteemed title Chief Officer of Vacuuming and Garbage. They did everything together from running a business to enjoying life to the fullest. They had a special kind of love that could be felt instantly when they were together.
If you talked with Joe for even a few minutes, you would know family was everything to him and spending time with them was his greatest pleasure. He cherished the time spent with his five grandchildren. Joe loved cheering on and supporting his grand-kids in all they did. He was their biggest fan.
Joe was a happy-go-lucky kind of guy who was always smiling – he was a ray of light and people just loved being around him. Joe was always generous with all he had and when he couldn’t help you, he knew someone who could. His famous line was, “Tell them Joe the Butcher sent you.” And he would always follow-up as well to make sure you were okay.
Joe has left his mark on us all. He will be missed by everyone lucky enough to have known and loved him.
Joseph is survived by his beloved wife, Maria and his two children, Dawn and Raymond Weickel of Wappingers falls, NY and Adam and Sarah Torregrossa of Coral Springs, Fl. He also leaves behind five cherished grandchildren, Alyssa, Ryan, Emily, Jacob and Joseph (JP). He is sadly predeceased by his two sisters, Joyce Shorr and Jeanett LoCorriere, and his beloved Bulldog Petey.
