Lawrence (Larry) Cennamo

1944 – 2021

Lawrence (Larry) Cennamo of New Fairfield, CT, previously of Mahopac, NY, passed away at Putnam Ridge Nursing Home, peacefully, with his family at his side Sunday December 5, 2021, at the age of 77.

He was born in 1944, in Brooklyn, NY, son of the late Lawrence J. and Zelda Cennamo. He graduated from Hauppauge High School, Long Island, NY, and earned a bachelor’s degree from the New York Institute of Technology. He served with the United States Army during the Vietnam War and attained the rank of Sergeant.

In 1967, Larry married the love of his life, Patricia, in Commack, NY. While living on Long Island, he was also a volunteer Fireman. He was always looking for ways to help his family, friends and neighbors.

In 1977, they moved their family to Mahopac, NY in order for him to commute to White Plains, where he worked as a manager for NYNEX, until his retirement. During the 25 years he lived in Mahopac, he made many friends on his journey and coached a Mahopac In-house soccer team for several years.

Later, he and Patricia moved to New Fairfield, CT to be closer to their family. As an active parishioner of St. Edward the Confessor parish, he worked on many Americares Homefront projects and was often known to put in the extra time and effort to help the person in need.

Larry is survived by his loving wife, Patricia; his sons, Larry (Lisa) of New Fairfield, CT and Brian (Laura) of San Francisco, CA; his three grandchildren, Nicole, Matthew, and Caitlyn; his sisters Carolyn Weiss (Ray Goldstein) of New Jersey and Sandy Cennamo Graham of Texas, and sister-inlaw, Helen Cennamo of New York. He was predeceased by his brother Arthur Cennamo.

A memorial gathering will be planned for a future date.
