Loretta Daley


Loretta Daley, a lifelong resident of Patterson, NY, died Tuesday, October 2, 2018, at Danbury Hospital, Danbury, CT. She was 84 years old.

Loretta was born on May 27, 1934, in Patterson, NY to Frank and Charlotte (Valentine) McNamee. She attended schools in Carmel, NY.

On February 18, 1954, Loretta married the love of her life, James F. Daley Sr. in Patterson, NY. James died on January 13, 2001.

Loretta was a cook and cashier for the Carmel Central School District, working at the Mathew Paterson Elementary School in Patterson, NY for 22 years retiring in 1996.

A wonderful cook, often baking cookies at home and bringing them to school for the children, Loretta would exclaim, ‘don’t touch, these are for the children’ as her son and daughter went to sneak one or two for themselves. Although she was happy to be around the students of Mathew Paterson Elementary School, Loretta was happiest when surrounded by her own family.

Loretta is survived by her daughter Connie (Frederick) Pfister of Carmel, NY; her two grandchildren, Frederick Pfister III of Rome, NY and Scott (Karen) Pfister of Heron, Montana and one great granddaughter Sarah. A brother Robert McNamee of Niagara Falls, NY and a sister Cecelia Curry of Connecticut. She was pre-deceased by her son James F. ‘Jimmy’ Daley Jr. on August 13, 1983.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2018, at 10:30AM at the Dwyer Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Patterson, NY. Interment will follow at Raymond Hill Cemetery, Carmel, NY. A private cremation was held earlier. www.dwyerfuneralhome.com
