Priscilla (Maxcy) Schwartz, age 93, of Mahopac, NY, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2020, at her son, Stewart’s, house in Easley, SC.
Priscilla was born on October 19, 1926, in Newburgh, New York to the late Frederick and Florence (Fitton) Maxcy. She graduated from Purdys Central High School in Purdys, NY. On October 15, 1950, she married Raymond Schwartz and together they raised their eight children, first in Cortlandt, NY then in Mahopac where they lived for over 48 years.
Priscilla had a long career as a secretary and typesetter, working for many years at the Mount Kisco-based Patent Trader newspaper. While she enjoyed square dancing with Ray, family was always most important. She appreciated all time spent with her children and their families.
Mrs. Schwartz was predeceased by her husband Raymond on December 5, 2015, as well as her brothers Richard and Donald. Priscilla is survived by her children: Raymond of Bartlett, IL; Stephen of Poughkeepsie, NY; Michael of Yorktown Heights, NY; Cynthia Linquist of Lake Carmel, NY; Bradley of Stamford, CT; Darrell of Brewster, NY; Stewart of Easley, SC; and Lynne Konan of Cleona, PA; 17 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Additionally, she is survived by siblings David of Alameda, CA; Lora of Chatham, NY; and Linwood of Clinton, SC. She was fond of her many nieces and nephews and their families.
A memorial will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2020, at Croton Falls Community Church, followed by a luncheon. There will be space for social distancing due to Covid-19. Saturday afternoon, Priscilla and Raymond will be laid at their final resting place at Hillside Cemetery, 1033 Oregon Road, Cortlandt Manor, NY.
