ROBERT DEAN MAPES




Robert Dean Mapes, 60, a resident of Poughquag, NY, passed away Sunday, March 20, 2011 at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in Manhattan, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Elmira, NY, on July 15, 1950 he was the son of the late Frederick and Ida (Woods) Mapes. Bob worked as a construction project manager for Aviv Construction in NYC for many years and loved his work. He was especially proud of the home he constructed for his own family. Bob was both an avid golfer and a family man. He easily made friends and will be missed greatly by all.

Bob is survived by his wife, Sheila (Shanahan) Mapes and his two children, Michael and Allison; his brother, David, and two sisters, Michelle and Cindy; his mother-in-law Sheila Shanahan; many sisters and brothers-inlaw; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Bob is predeceased by his brother, Steven Mapes.

Visitation was Wednesday March 23, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the Horn & Thomes, Inc. Funeral Home, 83 East Main St, Pawling. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10am at St. John’s Church, Pawling. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
