Ronald Lawrence McAdams




Ronald Lawrence McAdams, 67, a resident of Pawling since 1981 and previously a five year resident of Bethel, CT, passed away at Castle Point Veterans Hospital, Beacon, NY, on November 11, 2013.

Born in the Bronx on June 21, 1946, he was the son of the late Vincent and Eleanor (Wehner) McAdams. Ron was a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps and served two tours in Viet Nam. On June 28, 1969, he married Susan Ginsberg in the Bronx, and they made their home there until moving to Bethel. Ron worked as a signal maintainer for Metro North Railroad for 32 years before retiring in 2005.

Ron loved his family, especially his daughters and grandchildren. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, going to the beach, traveling, especially to Atlantic City, and he loved sitting in the sun.

Ron was a member of the Marine Corps League #242, volunteering many years for the Marine Corps Toy for Tots program, and helped get many of the toys donated to the Pawling Resource Center.

He is survived by his wife, Susan; two daughters, Stacy McAdams Slone and her husband Vincent of Warsaw, IN and Jacqueline McAdams and her husband Richard Nappi of Apopka, FL; a brother, Vincent McAdams and his wife, Rhona, of Altamonte Springs, FL; a sister, Patricia Rongo and her husband, John, of Wappingers Falls, NY; three grandchildren, Brett, Jacob, and Jordanne McAdams; six step-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, greatnieces & great-nephews, and his faithful companion, Chloe.

He is predeceased by his brother, William Matthews.

Friends may call at the Horn & Thomes, Inc. Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling, NY, Friday, November 15thfrom 4-7 PM. A funeral service will follow at 7 PM.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
