Silvio L. Mauro




Silvio L. Mauro, 85, a resident of Hopewell Junction since 2002 and formerly of Kent, died on Wednesday, October 28, 2009, at the Putnam Ridge Health Care Facility in Brewster.

Born in New York City on September 8, 1924, he was the son of Joseph and Concetta D’Alessandro Mauro. He served in the US Army during World War II and was employed as a Building Supervisor for BOCES in Yorktown until his retirement in 1986. He had worked for the Carmel Central School District for 30 years. He was a member of the United Columbians in Kent. He also served for two years on the Westchester Community Council in White Plains.

On November 18, 1950, at St. Joseph’s Church in the Bronx, Silvio married Phyllis Pesce who survives at home. He is also survived by his daughter, Valerie Mauro of Irvine, CA; his sons, Guy Mauro and his wife, Madelyn, of Stormville; Richard Mauro of LaGrange; and James Mauro and his wife, Stephanie of Union Vale; his sister, Isabella Pesce of Long Island; and his grandchildren, Nicole, James, Matthew, Alexandra, and Patrick.

Calling hours were on Friday from at the McHoul Funeral Home in Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday St. Columba Church in Hopewell Junction, followed by entombment in Rose Hill Memorial Park in Putnam Valley with military honors.
